A stranger tried to help me today
I was headed toward a chair
Mincing, labored, cloddy steps
Each with a prayer
She asked if I was alright
I obviously wasn't just then
She saw me almost fall
But the chair goal came just in time
I explained I needed recovery time
She kindly touched my arm as
She turned to walk away
I stayed; I had to
Fifteen minutes later I walked away
The impulses were now getting through
I went from definitely damaged
To at least mostly normal
Today it was all a matter of pacing
And waiting
