ANNE VOLANT ROWLING

MOTHER OF AUTHOR J.K. ROWLING...HARRY POTTER BOOKS.
WAS DIAGNOSED AT AGE 34 AND DIED ON 12/30/1990 AT AGE 45 AFTER A LONG BATTLE AND SUFFERING FROM MS.

Additional information:
Here's a little more about Anne as told to The Independent by Ms. Rowling.

"J.K. Rowling's mother, Anne, was a fit 34-year-old when she began suffering from pins and needles in one arm, which a doctor originally attributed to a shortage of protein in the spinal fluid.

A year later, when symptoms had worsened, she saw a consultant, who diagnosed MS. "At first, life went on much as usual, perhaps too much as usual. My mother made few, if any, concessions to her illness," Rowling wrote in an article published eight years ago.

"Her deterioration was slow at first. There were bad spells when her walking became jerky and her general co-ordination suffered, then she would seem to recover for a while. After a few years, what had once been a bad spell became the norm, and the bad spells grew steadily worse. She was just past 40 when she started using a wheelchair outside the house and 42 when she needed a walking frame inside it.

"I saw her for the last time just before Christmas 1990. She was extremely thin and looked exhausted. I don't know how I didn't realise how ill she was. She died on New Year's Eve. When the telephone rang at half past seven in the morning and my boyfriend's mother called up the stairs, 'It's your Dad', I knew. Fathers don't call their daughters that early except for the worst of reasons. She was 45 and I still can't write about her without crying."

J.K. Rowling's Donation
by: Akrista

I recently found out that J. K. Rowling gave a sizeable donation to further MS research.

"(12 Sep 2019) AUTHOR J.K. ROWLING MAKES HUGE GIFT FOR MS RESEARCH

Harry Potter author J.K. Rowling has made a substantial donation for research into the treatment of multiple sclerosis at a center named after her late mother."

She gave 15.3 million-pound ($18.8 million) to be used for new facilities at the research center based in Scotland at the University of Edinburgh.

This gift comes after a major donation that J.K. Rowling made back in 2010 to start the Anne Rowling Clinic.

She's excited by all of the advances being made in regards to research into MS. She's also proud that the clinic provides "practical, on the ground support and care for people with MS."

It's so good to hear when celebrities' are helping to further the cause and helping to find a cure for multiple sclerosis.

No Clue
by: Jacakac

Wow, this is a fact to me; I had no clue that she had a mom who was also such an equivalent writer. I always have respected her as one of the best visionaries that lived in my era too.
